Curator Info:

Fusing warped minimal Techno with hypnotic House grooves to create a brilliant melange of futuristic, hard pounding, wicked beats, Mark Bee, the man responsible for bringing Detroit’s harder brand of House music to the Garden State, spends just as much time making music as he does playing it. As a key figure in New Jersey’s dance music community for the past decade, Mark Baatz (a.k.a. Mark Bee), first began his professional DJ'ing career in ’92. Heavily influenced by New York’s already flourishing Techno scene, Mark felt it was time for Jersey to “open its eyes” to the possibilities of dance music. On April 15, 1995, Mark, along with partner Glenn Garcia, formed the New Jersey Underground and solidified Jersey’s place in the dance music community with the state’s first ever rave: Solid. As a promoter, Mark is credited for being a major force in originating the underground scene in New Jersey and its tri-state neighbors including New York City. His creations include the legendary structure parties of 1995-1996 whose illustrious roster included the likes of Frankie Bones, Adam X, Nigel Richards, Micro and Scott Henry. Inspired by the incredible talent featured at his events, Mark decided that it was time for him to step up to the wheels of steel for himself; and as the cliche goes, the rest is now history. By displaying his signature brand of Techno, Mark quickly established himself in the dance music community as both a respected promoter and DJ. Mark’s passion for dance music has enabled him the opportunity to share the stage with electronica’s creme de la creme at many of the largest series”events in the US and Canada. These events include: Whistle 2 & 3 (Philadelphia), Fantasia 2 & 4 (New York), Vinyl Frontier 3 (Cleveland), Bang 2 & 3 (Philadelphia), Goodvibes 3 (Toronto,Canada) and Gathering of Time (Los Angeles). In addition, Mark has participated in the “Moonshine Over America” tour as well as the “Playstation 2” tour during its installment in New York. Most recently, Mark was the opening DJ at the highly anticipated and acclaimed Moby “Play” tour in New York and has also opened for The Orb, Steve Stoll, DJ Skull and Crystal Method. His growing popularity in New York City has brought him alongside Dj Tiesto and Ferry Corsten (System F) at Exit2, New York City’s largest nightclub as well as Paul Oakenfold at New York City’s highly acclaimed Centro-Fly. As an established and prominent member of the global dance music community, it’s safe to say that Mark’s decision to turn his passion for dance music into a career has been so rewarding that he’s “never looked back”.
