Aka Carl’s quest to be part of the electronic music industry started in 2002 when he began to play a blend of Techno, Trance & Hard Dance. A few years later and he found that his passion was within Techno music! Carl wanted to further develop his skills within music production to become a DJ / Producer, and did this by attending a CPD in the music industry at Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA). He completed the course in 2005; this enabled him to study for a degree in Sound Engineering and Design at Manchester’s School of Sound and Recording (SSR). Whilst building his network & skill set at SSR, Carl successfully established his artist brand name Aka Carl & his label SUB CULT in the techno scene. His DJ sets have been the talk of the town, first of all winning one of 15 places out of 650 submissions to play a Set at Dance Island in 2008 and winning runner up in International DJ Magazines DJ competition gaining recognition from Jon O’Bir. “Jon: A proper pumping techno set here. Proper pumping! Reminds me of Fergieback in his banging days!” More recently Aka Carl has had the opportunity to play in and around Europe along side some of the artists that influenced him at the beginning of his quest… Ben Sims, Jeff Mills, Paul Mac,Veztax, Dave The Drummer, Mark EG, Fer BR, The Technicians, DJ Cristiao, Rydel and DJ Baly. Aka Carl's productions are high quality and have seen his tracks reaching numerous no 1 places on top respected stores, tracks have been featured on labels… SUB CULT, Work Hard Play Hard,Patterns, Techment, Kazoo, Gobsmacked, Startraxx, Keep On Techno and NTR. Carl now hosts his own monthly radio show SUB CULT Sessions on Digitally Imported’s Techno Channel, you can check out the show every second Friday of the month straight after the Carl Cox Global show!
