Chris Jackson, aka Filthy Mank, began his passion for musical discovery at a very early age after buying his first 12” from Manchester’s legendary Eastern Bloc records. Since then, hours have been spent in the capital of the north’s record shops in search of hidden gems and forgotten house classics. Chris spent hours at home on the 1210’s honing his craft, listening to the likes of 808 State, Graham Park and Justin Robertson. Jackson’s meticulous attention to mixing, and a canny ear for a timeless tune, produced party mix tapes for friends that are still played to this day! In the late 90’s, Chris, along with close friend and fellow DJ Frankie Lauder (FJ), played at some of the busiest and best-known bars and clubs in Manchester. But the demise of the duo in the early 00’s encouraged Chris to capitalise on his previous success with Frankie that subsequently garnered several residencies at clubs including Elemental, Generation X and Music Box. Towards the end of his formative years Chris went through a gradual process of playing records to creating them, and as a self-proclaimed perfectionist and musical aficionado, only the finest sounds make the final cut!
2012, and indeed beyond, will see Chris continue to showcase his ‘Dirt Box’ sessions in select venues throughout the country, and beyond!
