Ylva Ek aka Mama Gaia, born 1985 in Stockholm Sweden, went to her first electronic party in 2003 and fell in love at once. One year later Gaia and her friends founded the chill out deko crew called ”Voodoo crew” where she started off as a resident Dub/Ambient DJ.
Her interest in DJing grew fast and after experimenting with different genres she found that progressive tunes where closest to her heart. In 2005 she had her first dancefloor gig and since then she has evolved drastically as an artist, always with a passion for her work.
In 2006 she became resident DJ at the club ”Vardagsrummet” in Stockholm.
Playing mainly progressive, electro & minimal she started to become a name in the underground scene. She also became a part of DJ-trio ”Pitch Sthlm” consisting of Ayda & Emilia Mosquito.
In 2008 Gaia & her friends founded the party-crew UnderBraVidunder aka UBV,
which is now one of the biggest underground promoters in Sweden.
2008 she was ranked 28th best DJ at the Swedish Dj Top 100 list,
2009 she was ranked 45th
2011 she nominated and awarded ”Best Female Undergound DJ” in the Elly Awards
With all this in her backpack she has now played all over Sweden and abroad and worked with some of the best promoters in her country. Her music style reaches all over the spectra of progressive trance, from funky & melodic day time music to psychedelic & mystic night time tunes.
Her sets is always a knit of fresh tunes and old favorites carefully selected according to the time of the set.
