The trax that kept there classic feel to them through the year!

Artist Info:

Steve “801” Garcia, in one word is a man ahead of his time. Music is the international language that everyone understands next to body language. Steve’s musical talent spans the whole music continuum. A seasoned dj since 1993 getting his first paid gig’s playing Breakbeatz/Jungle in 94 in Argentina’s greatest clubs and radio stations both in Buenos Aires and Cordoba, much to the dismay of one promoter in Buenos Aires. The rest of the clubs loved the new sound and to the youth of his homeland an eye opener to what was going on in the UK and the US at the time. “I took a sword for the underground playing Moving Shadow at a fashion show back then but it was the future sound and that’s what I liked. But the icing on the cake was people telling me they had never heard that sound before and they loved it!”. There were UK DJ’s down there at the time but they were playing regular top 40 stuff not really educating the crowd to other forms of dance music. Steve is not just a deejay but a musician with proven talent both classic and in various contemporary forms such as his beat boxing skills that won him honors freshman year at SUNY Purchase in 95. “Music has always been a part of my life because of my father”, an accomplished pianist and graduate of Juilliard. Steve was even born during an opera, The Marriage of Figaro so even in the womb he was studying intervals. Steve grew up listening to strictly classical and played the violin, piano, trumpet, xylophone and other types of percussion. “I remember one of my teachers saying there is serious music and there is ear candy music which I thought was ignorant”. Steve has always stayed balanced between the two sides of the music continuum. His “serious” classical vocal work has taken him to Bulgaria, four UK tours, two album releases featuring him as a soloist and in addition being part of the opera Dido and Aeneas for The Greenwich Music Festival 2005. “I always follow this rule what ever music you make or perform you better feel it or they won’t”. Early influences to his sound came via clubs like the Red Zone and the Building in 92 where he would hear Supa DJ Dmitry and others to the Nasa parties that DB hosted introducing the sounds of many respected deejays like Frankie Bones, Carlos Soulslinger, Scott Henry, DJ Feelgood, DJ Odi, Denard Henry, and Beau. “I had the best mix tapes back then and all my friends would steal them”. Steve has played amongst some respected deejays like Hangover Boy (SWE), Steve Lee (UK), Billy Velin, John Creamer, Johan Afterglow (SWE), Justin Johnson, Chris 3P0, Carlos Alfonsin (AR), Cristobal Paz (AR), Dr. Rendezvous, Scott Richmond, Mr. Kleen, Selway, and others . Bottom line Steve is in it for the long run. Non stop from South America to NYC and beyond with the best he delivers proper hardcore techno to down tempo and then he might even sing you a ditty from the Spanish Renaissance if you’re lucky. It’s all about working the crowd in all forms. If you don’t know now you know.
