Mora Music was a vision from Michael 'Melos' Stones, Frederic 'Givron' Peck and Shaun 'Kyber' Murphy around 6 months ago and ever since the first meeting it was clear we had very strong ethics and a real sense of musical direction in how we wanted to run the label. Having run a drum & bass label myself for the last year or so, Shaun + Givron approached me with the idea of starting Mora Music as they both had reasonable knowledge on running a label but wanted to get more involved and learn how to do it properly so I offered to jump on board and help them and get this thing off the ground. We have all been into house music and techno for many years and used to run a fairly successful event and free party called Positive Education for around 6 years but we all left Lincolnshire and moved to Brighton / Leeds / Manchester / London etc and sort of went our own separate ways. Only in the last 6 months have we all moved back to the area and decided with my success in the drum & bass sector that the time was right to start up Mora Music. The focus is simple. Great quality house / techno and electronica, not so genre specific but *really* focused on absolutely fantastic music. We all love the Chicago /Detroit house and techno scene from yester-year so I think this will play an important role in the sound that comes out of the label, and I guess that's what pulled us all together. We don't want to sound old of course we want to be fairly ground breaking but we certainly aren't trying to set new trends, just focus on the good stuff and forget the rest! We will be starting a radio show, podcast and will be booked to play some really great nights in 2011. We really want to focus on pushing the label and getting a handful of top notch music so we can launch with the right style from day one and are totally dedicated to putting all the time and effort required to make this a success. With the artists we already have on board we feel that we are in a very strong position in this sector of music during 2011. There are 3 people in the team at Mora and we are all responsible for various parts of the running of our label. Givron is A+R and so far has brought some fantastic music to the plate. You will see some serious promotional work from all 3 of us on the team and most weeks we spend 7 days a week in the studio promoting / producing records, remixing, edits and running my other label so we will really push this for you. Music is all of our lives and we will not let anybody down in this agreement. We will be promoting the label across all social networking sites (facebook/youtube/myspace/twitter/soundcloud/official.fm/lastfm/reverb nation etc) as well as over 300 house and techno forums worldwide. Also we are already looking at getting features + reviews in top magazines and websites once we launch properly. Our releases are already been charted on Resident Advisor and the word about Mora Music is officially on the street.
