Archangel:
So funky it wears star-shaped glasses! This jam gives you a shuffling breakdown that might even get some b-boys throwing down. A plodding, relentless boogie jam fueled by soulful vocals and analog basslines with a punchy beat, organs, funky guitar, and keys-- Oh my! The funk is so pure in this one that each break and each return to the main will re-ignite the fire on the floor. I'll just go ahead and pre-order the rewind for when you drop this one on the Denizens.

Trevor Lamont:
That sexy baseline just sitting there and doing it's thing. I love the keys!
Archangel:
The claim that this sounds like a throwback to Tribal Records' heyday, is spot on! If you grew up listening to Danny Tenaglia, then this will re-awaken a part of your soul that needed to get back on the dance floor. Vibey keys, funky organ stabs, soulful vocals-- it's all there over a pounding beat that feels a little closer to today's beats. The funky breakdowns induce warm smiles while the Deep Ones will melt into an all-out boogie. You might have to run onto the floor for a little of your own wiggle.

More Info
Research were a post punk, industrial jazz funk band who formed in the early 80s supporting bands such as Material and Pigbag as well as playing sessions for the BBC and Womad. They have released three still sought after albums Laws of Motion, Social Systems and The Perpetual City.
Recent interest in the band resulted in releases on Rong / DFA and Bearfunk. Their 2010 Reworks twelve-inch was awarded single of the week on Boomkat.
The Day By Day original is modern day boogie with broken beats that fuse live percussion, bass, guitars, drums, pads and vocals by Valerie Maxfield (Groove Armada / Freestylers) but with studio touches locking it down to a fierce groove.
The Dub strips things back, keeping the groove and building the tension until the Rhodes drops about half way for a proper deep soul disco moment!
Psychemagik continue their purple patch with a floor heavy mix that shakes up disco and deep house but is all class. They retain the original elements but add stabs, pads and bass and completely re-arrange it for dance floor impact.
Finally Spiegelsound turn in a mix that sounds like a release from Tribal Records’ heyday. With a massive garage bass, it cuts up the vocal for a classic deep NYC garage sound that sounds fresh for 2012!
Released Sept 10 on download & vinyl.
